Letter from Liam
Let me take this opportunity to thank you all for the very warm welcome Hannah, the children and I received since coming to Centrepoint. Although we have only been at Centrepoint for only four months we feel right at home and are enjoying getting to know you. I love Eugene Peterson’s paraphrase of Mathew 11:29-30
Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.
Its my prayer that together we will learn to walk in the ‘unforced rhythms of grace’. I appreciate that everyones circumstances are unique, but it is my prayer that Centrepoint will continue to encourage you in you walk with God and that in turn you will be able to serve and support others too.
Centrepoint is a vibrant, healthy Church, comprised of people who are open to God. This is evident in people’s lives and in their commitment to the Lord and each other. Commitment that can be seen when things are going well, and commitment that steps up to the mark when it gets difficult. Centrepoint is a great community, a committed community and a loving community.
I appreciate that it is not easy having a new Pastor. Things always change, sometimes not fast enough, sometimes not the change we look for. There is a caricature about churches, that they don’n like any change, unless it is to turn back the clock. That is not what I have seen at Centrepoint. Instead, I have found a congregation that is open, flexible and adaptable, with a desire to get on and get things done.
I am grateful to God for the dedication and commitment that I see in so many of you. Thank you for everything you do, quite simply we could not operate without the army of dedicated individuals who serve so enthusiastically. I am especially appreciative of everything Pastor Craig and Elaine achieved. I would also like to express appreciation, on your behalf, to Gordon, John , Sam and Andy for their dedication and service.
Its my hope that through this morning and the information provided you will catch a glimpse of my heart for Centrepoint Elim for the future. We are in exciting times and I’m deeply convicted that the best days of Centrepoint are ahead of us. Thank you for your ongoing support and prayers.
